Global Logistics & Carrier Governance

This core course explores the foundational mechanisms governing international freight movement across air, ocean, rail, and highway modes. Students examine the contractual architecture of international commerce, Incoterms® 2020 cost and risk transfer allocations, and transport liability regimes under international maritime and civil aviation conventions.

Specialized focus is placed on the regulatory duties unique to freight forwarders within the Canadian trade ecosystem. Participants practice applying for and managing forwarder carrier codes, submitting electronic advance commercial information (eManifest/ACI), and establishing delegation networks inside the CBSA CARM Client Portal.

  • Preparation of ocean bills of lading, airway bills, and intermodal transport documents.
  • Filing eManifest declarations, consolidated cargo reports, and bonded movements.
  • Configuring forwarder account hierarchies and financial security in CARM.
